Mini Review: Paul D – Roter Veltliner

Paul D – Roter Veltliner 2013
Gorgeous nose of spring blossoms, harvest pomme fruit and talcum powder. Lilting peachy and citrus flavors, slightly effervescent, dancing on the tongue’s edge. Honeydew melon and lime lasts a long time. Vivacity is deceiving of its real weight. Has aspects that make me think of Pinot Blanc but more edgy. Austrian, yes, but not to be confused with Gruner Veltliner, it is a grape variety and varietal wine all it’s own. Paul D has already delivered some tasty 1L sized Gruner and Zweigelt to the Vermont wine market, and this is a fine addition to the party. Distributed in Vermont by Artisanal Cellars.
Was great with local kielbasa and kraut. No limits to its culinary utility. Might need more of this for Thanksgiving.

Very Good , a deal, highly recommended.
